Psykopater i skräckfilm - från Norman Bates till slashergenre
2005 (svensk)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Oppgave
Abstract [en]

The purpose with this paper is to find out how the psychopath is changing in the horrorgenre in the 70’s, with the starting point on Norman Bates and Psycho (1960). My question of issue become “How is the psychopath changing in the horrorgenre in the 70’s?” I choose to compare with Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Michael Myers from Halloween (1978) and Pamela Voorhees from Friday the 13th (1980). But in the work of progress I discovered that my framing of the question was not quite fair. It’s not really the psychopath that’s changing during the 70’s, but the whole horrorgenre. A subgenre called slasher is introduced during this period and is descended from Mr. Norman Bates himself.
